HALF PAST FOUR- NEW VIDEO RELEASED

Postby pr@halfpastfour » Tue Dec 15, 2009 7:35 am

The video mentioned above, and the song itself - "Johnny" is inspired by a book by serbian writer Milorad Pavic "The Dictionary Of The Khazars"... The song was written about 6 years ago... We were watching last draft of the video on Nov 30 when the news of Pavic's death came through... How sad and a bit ironic...

It seems that this writer is not widely known , he quite avant-garde, amazing storyteller that utilizes interactive concepts. That what i would call progressive literature... "The Dictionary Of The Khazars" is his most influential and monumental work... It IS a dictionary, in terms of organization of the book, and that gives a reader an opportunity to read the book in different sequence from article to article, thus opening a new meaning every time... I find it somewhat akin to progressive rock... he also wrote novels-crosswords, plays a-la carte with tree opening one main and three closing acts so the director could choose whether it will be a comedy or a tragedy.

Check him out - you won't be dissapointed, if you dig that kinda stuff

re: Unsettled

Postby Dean » Tue Dec 15, 2009 12:25 pm

It's interesting that your video was infuenced in the manner described in the previous post. My about-to-be-completed body of work "Unsettled" is based around a painting that and artist friend of mine "Ron Eady" completed, which is aptly named "Unsettled". Ron's work is extremely progressive in nature and his art brings out many progressive musical ideas from me. I hope to continue this art/music collaboration with more of his work in the future. The background of my myspace page is in fact that painting and will be the cover of the CD.

You can see more of Ron's work at www.roneady.com.

HALF PAST FOUR

Postby pr@halfpastfour » Thu Dec 17, 2009 8:30 am

hey guys - we're as a band are squealing with excitement over here. We just got a comment on our video from Dweezil Zappa:

Hello Half Past Four,
I had a moment to check out the first video up on your site. You guys and gals have a lot going on! I liked it. The diminished passages were interesting and I particularly liked the intro lick in the guitar solo.
Nice job, good luck with everything!
Regards, DZ
