Chris Squire, who has been in London for the Prince's Trust Tribute to Trevor Horn, has also been spending a lot of time with his bandmates in The Syn. Chris and Syn vocalist Stephen Nardelli will be writing some songs together, and Chris is recording bass tracks for the next Syn CD release. He also plans to participate in another Syn CD as well. We're delighted to hear that Chris will be active and productive with this great band during the time that YES is on hiatus.

Says Stephen Nardelli: "It's tremendous to be playing with Chris again. Apart from being a good friend, he just happens to be the best bass player in the world! We plan to start writing and recording together immediately after the Prince's Trust concert. The Syn has nearly completed its first studio album for release early next year. Chris will feature on this album and will start work with the band on the follow-up album. Great things to come!"

We are also expecting a major Syn press conference for the international music media to take place soon in London. More news as it happens! Stay current on all of the latest updates at The Syn website!

Although the pre-sale is over, you can still purchase the YesServices Edition of "Original Syn," while supplies last.

"Original Syn" features a CD of historic archival recordings -- (including the earliest recording of Chris on bass at age 15) -- a CD interview with Chris Squire recorded in Denver, Colorado on September 11, 2004, and a beautiful, full-color archival booklet tracking the history of the band. Price is $25 plus shipping/handling.

The large CD package has been released to Spectrum, and we expect mail distribution to begin during the week of Nov. 15th. Quantities are limited! Don't miss this opportunity to acquire the highly collectible YesServices Edition of "Original Syn"!

Tim Morse, author of "YesStories: Yes In Their Own Words," is a multi-talented fellow! When he is not interviewing rock stars for major music publications, he is playing keyboards in a YES tribute band, called Parallels!

Parallels is Northern California's only YES tribute band, and they will be performing in Sacramento on Saturday, November 27th at 8:00 p.m. Pacific Time. Cover charge is $8 at the door.

The Roadhouse
1556 Bell Avenue
Sacramento, CA 95838
(916) 929-3957
(located off I-80 on the corner of Bell Ave. and Raley Blvd.)

Journalist Joe Matera writes of Parallels: "With YES classics such as Siberian Khatru and Roundabout, Parallels take great pains in unearthing every nuance, every minute detail bar, adding lashings of the same feel and vibe that oozes from every YES standard. And the high measure of musicianship from each musician shines through in their wonderful recreations particularly on the superb And You and I. Any band who put so much discipline into recreating music of such high caliber of that of YES, are to be admired and respected and Parallels do it fluently and naturally."

Don't miss the last 2004 performance of Parallels! Crown your Thanksgiving weekend with this great show!

Dylan Howe has released his second album for UK independent label OT Records. "This Is It" is a perfect example of the best of the new wave of British jazz that has been building over the past three years. Howe's latest offering harks back to the peak of late '50s "blue-note" recordings, with more than a nod to the great Sam Rivers -- two of whose compositions can be found on the CD.

Howe's band, Quentin Collins (Trumpet), Brian Edwards (Sax), Frank Harrison (Piano), and Andy Crowdy (Bass) are supplemented on a couple of tracks by special guests. Legendary guitarists Steve Howe and John Etheridge lend their skills, while the beautifully crafted acoustic guitar of Luiz De Almeida joins the band, together with top UK saxophonist Ben Castle.

Already heralded as one of the top bands on the UK jazz scene, Dylan Howe's Quintet have graced the stages of most major festivals and have already made several forays into Europe. This album is bound to bring them even more attention and possibly international acclaim. It doesn't get much better than "This Is It."

"This Is It" is available in the U.K. at Woolworth's, and can also be purchased online: ... op=details

Alan Farley, Australian YES fan and creator of the Yesology course offered by the College of Southern Idaho (, has written a new YES book, entitled "The Extraordinary World of Yes."

The Extraordinary World Of Yes, published by iUniverse U.S.A., celebrates the stunning achievements of YES as one of the greatest bands in the history of rock, and provides a better understanding of the mastery behind its amazing music. The book addresses the question: What makes YES so outstanding, and what is it that is truly significant about the band and its music?

The book also highlights the positive and often profound messages to be found in the substantial musical output of YES. It answers questions about the meaning of great YES songs, investigates the creative process behind the songs, and offers keys to appreciating and understanding YES music and lyrics. Substantiated by quotes from the members of YES, the book provides an unfolding sequence focusing on the exceptional YES musicians, their fascinating history, remarkable music, and brilliant concerts.
